What the service is

KeyParts makes a summary of a YouTube video: a few sentences on what it is about, a breakdown into sections with timestamps and what each of them is about, and the parts especially worth watching. The summary is prepared by a language model from the video's captions. It works only for videos that have captions, automatic ones included. A video without captions cannot be summarised, and trying does not count towards the daily limit.

The summary can contain mistakes

The summary is prepared by a language model. It can miss something, describe it wrongly, or pick the wrong parts as worth watching. Section timestamps are based on the video's captions, so they are as accurate as the captions are. If the captions end before the video does, the extension tells you. The summary helps you decide what to watch, but as a shortened version it naturally leaves out some detail.

Availability

We work to keep the service running without interruption, but we do not guarantee it will always be available. Technical breaks can happen, including unannounced ones. The service's features may change.

Accounts and payment

Signing up is open. Once its e-mail address is confirmed, a new account gets the free plan: 3 videos a day, up to 3 hours in total, for 7 days. The day's allowance is counted from midnight in your time zone. When the free plan ends, videos already checked still open, and new ones can be summarised on the Basic plan, free, or on the Pro plan ($5 a month, 20 hours of video a day). The Pro plan can be bought from your account page. Payment is taken by Stripe, which is the seller: receipts, invoices, refunds and cancellation are handled by Stripe. The subscription renews automatically every month. You can cancel it at any time in your Link account at link.com, and the plan stays on until the end of the period you paid for. A consumer in the European Union has 14 days to withdraw from the purchase, counted from getting access to the plan. Withdrawal and the refund are handled by Link support, under Link's terms. We will announce any change of prices in advance.

The Basic plan summarises every video on your own computer, in Chrome, with the language model and the translator Google builds into it. It has no daily allowance. Whether it runs, and how fast, depends on your computer and your browser, and we cannot promise it runs on every one; it gives no summary of the whole video and no key parts.

What is not allowed

  • Sharing your account, or the token the extension uses to connect to it, with others.
  • Using the service on videos you do not have ordinary access to on YouTube.
  • Working around the plan's limits, or sending requests automatically.

Privacy

What is collected and who it is passed to is described in the privacy policy.
